Are you feeling anxious, overwhelmed or even panicked about a specific issue, upcoming event or just about life in general? Have you endured a life long struggle with food or body image and are sick of diets? Do you feel depressed or struggle to get out of bed in the morning because you no longer find purpose or meaning in the work you do or in the life you’re currently experiencing? Have you experienced a significant loss or trauma that even on your best days still holds power over your thoughts, emotions, or actions? Are you “stuck” in a current career and feel afraid to explore other options or just don’t know where to begin?
It is quite normal for adults of all ages to experience difficult emotions such as worry, sadness, anxiety, depression, anger, frustration, or lack of motivation when things in life just haven’t turned out as originally planned. Perhaps you’re mourning the loss of a loved one or special pet and feel like you will never be able to adapt to the emptiness in your heart.
Maybe you can’t even put a finger on the exact emotion or difficult thought that is holding you back from experiencing the worthwhile and meaningful life you deeply desire. You are not alone and there is hope for positive change and the quality of life you deserve.
Though most traditional counseling and psychotherapy services are offered in the comfort of a private office space, we can explore difficult emotions or behaviors you are experiencing and begin to set goals for the change you desire from the comfort of your own space using video conference technology known as TeleHealth Services. Together, we can talk about strategies to help you move forward toward a more vital, valued life direction. These strategies may include exercises to increase body acceptance or greater acceptance of “what is”, mindfulness practices to increase grounding and presence, and goal setting that speaks to your stated values of what is important to you. My theoretical orientations are behavioral, existential, and mindfulness-based in nature, and I use a variety of eclectic yet evidence-based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Health at Every Size approaches. Sessions are typically scheduled on a once a week basis or more frequently if desired.
As a licensed clinical mental health counselor associate and psychotherapist, I will meet you where you are, no matter what stage of change or healing. I continue to build on my formal education by attending conferences, workshops and seminars in order to provide you the most current, evidence-based treatment to match your emotional or behavioral needs. I love collaborating on the change process through goal setting and adapting as you progress.
Initial sessions are typically 60-90 minutes. During this first session, we will get to know one another better and establish some preliminary goals for treatment. I will then conceptualize a plan to discuss during our next session.
Subsequent sessions (second and on) are typically 50-60 minutes. During our second and future sessions, we will begin to collaborate on a plan that adapts to your personal goals, values, and cultural orientation. Sessions can be as structured in working toward your goals as you desire, or may be more fluid to address imminent problems that may arise. Regular check-ins on goal status helps us to keep up with progress and any new goals that may arise during our process together.
